IGCSE Maths 2026 Exam Timetable: Key Dates and Preparation Tips

By Teacher Rig · · Updated 1 March 2026

The Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics 0580 May/June 2026 examination series is fast approaching. Whether you are taking Core or Extended, having a clear timeline and revision strategy is essential. Here is what you need to know.

Key Exam Dates (May/June 2026)

Cambridge typically schedules IGCSE Mathematics papers across May and early June. The exact dates are confirmed by Cambridge International in their timetable document, usually released six months before the exam series. Check with your school’s exam officer for confirmed dates and ensure you know the start times for your time zone.

For Extended candidates, Paper 2 (non-calculator, 1 hour 30 minutes) and Paper 4 (calculator, 2 hours 30 minutes) are the two papers you will sit. Core candidates take Paper 1 (1 hour) and Paper 3 (2 hours). Each pair of papers is typically scheduled on separate days.

March: Identify and Fill Gaps

With roughly two months until exams, March is the time to be honest about your weak areas. Use the Cambridge syllabus as a checklist and work through one past paper under timed conditions. Your mistakes will reveal exactly where to focus. Prioritise topics you find difficult over topics you already enjoy — this is where the biggest grade improvements come from.

April: Intensive Past Paper Practice

April should be dedicated to past paper practice. Aim for two to three full papers per week, always under timed conditions. After each paper, spend equal time analysing your mistakes. Build a mistake log categorised by topic — if you keep losing marks on vectors or probability, that is where your extra practice sessions should focus.

May: Final Refinement

In the final weeks before your exam, focus on exam technique rather than learning new content. Review your mistake log, practise questions on your weakest remaining topics, and do at least two more full papers. Pay attention to time management and presentation. Make sure you are reading questions carefully and showing all working.

The Week Before

Do not cram new content in the final week. Instead, do light revision of key formulas and methods. Review your mistake log one final time. Get good sleep, prepare your stationery (including a reliable calculator with fresh batteries for Paper 4), and arrive at each exam calm and prepared.
